Located among the cast iron buildings of SoHo at 55 Mercer Street (corner of Broome Street), the original theater was designed by Founding Artistic Director David Fishelson, along with architect Allan Thaler, former general manager Matt Irvin and original production manager Patrick Heydenburg.

The 140-seat theater (which was sold to nonprofit "The Culture Project" in 2007) had a 22' wide by 30' deep stage and a state of the art lighting and sound system.

Before it was home to MET, the site was previously home to the theater + gallery known as "Synchronicity Space".
